Delphi Academy of Santa Monica
holds Haiti Art Sale Fundraiser
Delphi Academy of Santa Monica held an Art for Haiti
fundraiser in early February at their school located on 4th Street, which
was a huge success.
The Delphi students donated art they had made in their
fine art classes, which are held weekly at the school as part of their
arts program, to the fundraiser and the art was sold to the public with
all proceeds being donated to the American Red Cross for the relief
efforts in Haiti.
"It was wonderful to see people walk in off the street and admire
and then buy our students art", said Bridgette Rappoport, Director of
Admissions for the school. "We are proud of our students for donating it
to such a worthwhile cause".
Art for Haiti raised over $750.00 and the money was delivered to the local
American Red Cross by a couple of the Delphi students.

Hair
Cafe
Our esthetician, Olga came up with the idea to do a fundraiser for the
Haiti Relief Effort. Quickly we put our heads together and came up with
the idea of taking $ 3.- Dollars of every service, and $ 1.- of every
retail item sold, and put in the Haiti Relief Fund box which we had at the
front desk of Hair Café hair salon in Santa Monica. This way the client
didn’t have to pay anything, they just had to come in for a hair or skin
care service.
We emailed our clients to let them know about the event, and many of
them added some donations to the box. Within 3 weeks and a few days, we
collected $ 1,144.00 Dollars. We are very excited that we came up with the
amount that we did, we were aiming for 1,000 Dollars and even went beyond.
Together we can make a difference.
One of the many beautiful things about America is the never tiring
willingness to help others in need. Hair Cafe is eager to maintain that
spirit of giving, even in the midst of our own economic crisis. One alone
cannot help enough, however, if many of us give just a little, we can make
a big impact. Best of luck! Sincerely, Philippe Schaedler Owner

A Very Special Wedding
Jennifer Pastiloff would like to thank all the guests, the Red Cross,
Yogaco, and OneHope Wine who graciously provided the wine for all the
guests at her wedding on 2/28/10, which was a rather non-traditional
affair. Instead of bringing gifts, she asked people to bring a donation
for the Red Cross towards Haiti earthquake relief. The Red Cross of Santa
Monica provided the buckets, which all the little children at the wedding
took upon themselves to walk around with and collecting money. At Jennifer
Pastiloff and Robert Taleghany's wedding over 2,230 dollars were raised
for Haiti. The wedding was held at Yogaco yoga studio in Santa Monica on
the 3rd st Promenade, and not one person wore shoes! To learn more about
Jen and please visit jenniferpastiloff.com. She teaches almost daily at
Yogaco. Jennifer is also the director of yoga teachers for the So Cal
Chapter of YogaBear, a non-profit that provides free yoga to cancer
survivors. |
