Los Angeles Area Regional Red Cross Chapters announce
First Annual "Heroes Breakfast," Nov. 17
Los Angeles Area Regional Red Cross Chapters have announced their First Annual "Heroes Breakfast," Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at the California Club in downtown Los Angeles.
The fundraising event will honor local business who have shown outstanding leadership in their community by taking an active role in disaster preparedness. The companies and their chief executives are “Heroes” who have helped to make Los Angeles a safer and better prepared community in the event of disaster.
The "Heroes Breakfast" is hosted by the Board(s) of Directors and Chapter Executive Officers of the various Los Angeles area regional Red Cross Chapters.
Former Los Angeles Mayor and respected business leader Richard Riordan will be the keynote speaker and Honoree.
This year’s prestigious event will include a breakfast, special preparedness talk by Lucy Jones, distinguished Chief Scientist for the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and an award ceremony. The "Heroes Breakfast" is expected to attract 200-plus attendees and the guest list includes both influential business leaders, decision makers and disaster professionals.
Both business leaders and members of the public are invited to attend. Attendance at the breakfast demonstrates a commitment and support to the ongoing efforts by the Red Cross and other preparedness organizations to help build a stronger and more disaster resilient business community.
Support of the” Heroes Breakfast” plays a vital role in ensuring that the Los Angeles area chapters of the American Red Cross will have the financial resources to prevent, prepare, and respond to disasters locally, nationally, and internationally.
Since the American Red Cross is privately funded and receives no government funding, the ability to provide services to those in need is directly dependent on financial support from the public.
