Miss Canada To Ride 4000KM In Support Of The Santa Monica  And Canadian Red Cross Organizations.

September 26th, 2010 marks the departure date for the 1st Annual Ride for Red, a 4000 km bike ride from Calgary to Los Angeles, CA in support of the American and Canadian Red Cross Organizations.  Shannon Lynn, aka Abelle Avanti and her crew of athletes and celebrities will hit the road 9AM Sunday morning from Calgary, AB.  The ride is scheduled to take the team through major cities; Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, and then onto their destination of Los Angeles, CA where they will arrive at the Santa Monica Red Cross Chapter no later than November 4th, 2010.

Shannon hopes to raise a minimum of one million dollars for each of the organizations.  A big supporter of both organizations, and a celebrity involved with the Santa Monica chapter in the United States, she believes that the ride is not only a great way to raise funds, but also bring awareness to what the Red Cross does as an organization.

Donations and pledges will be accepted online and at various appearances that the team will be making through their 4000 KM ride. 

Shannon, a Canadian Philanthropist, (Calgary, AB & Los Angeles, CA), Model/Actor/Designer, Entrepreneur, and not to forget… beauty queen (Miss Canada 2009), is confident that the ride and team will reach their goal of one million for each organization.  An amateur rider herself, she is currently training and getting ready for the big challenge.  She plans to establish the ride as an annual event and is excited to see how it will grow year to year. The goal being to bring awareness and funding to the organization, but also to support both Canada and the United States simultaneously.  She believes that as neighboring countries we can work together to support a common cause, and bring aid to those suffering from the effect of disasters world-wide. 

Riding along with Shannon as part of her team is Brock Kreitzburg U.S. Olympic Bob Sled Team, Bill Schuffenhauer, U.S. Silver Medalist and Christina Smith, Canadian Olympic Bob Sled Team. 

Justin Hines, famous Canadian singer/song writer wrote the theme for the ride, "Say What You Will".
