Tie Affair a big success
The American Red Cross of Santa Monica's annual "Red Tie Affair" fundraiser held at the
Fairmont-Miramar Hotel, in Santa Monica, Saturday, March 28, 2009 was a big
success. With over 400 happy attendees and nearly $150-thousand raised, it was a
grand night for all concerned.
The 2009 Red Tie Affair saluted the medical profession and
emergency medicine.Award winning KTTV Fox 11 News anchor, Christine Devine was
Master of Ceremonies for the gala and celebrity chef, author and TV show host,
Nick Stellino supervised the preparation of a four course gourmet dinner created
especially for the event.
Red Tie Award Honorees Red Tie honorees include the cast and
crew of the new, top-rated, CBS network, daytime television show, "The Doctors."
Jay McGraw, the show's executive producer, accepted the American Red Cross
Crystal Cross Award for the show's contribution to the everyday understanding of
medicine and health issues. Emergency room physician, Dr. Travis
Stork; obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Lisa Masterson; plastic surgeon and
reconstructive surgery expert Dr. Andrew Ordon; and pediatrician Dr. James Sears
who are in the cast of the show were also honored. The Rick Crocker
Spirit of Volunteerism Award was bestowed on Russ Kino, MD, FACEP, FACEM; Chief
Executive Officer of Saint John's Emergency Specialists; Medical Director,
Emergency Services Saint John's Health Center. Santa Monica City
Councilman Bobby Shriver presented the award. Santa Monica - UCLA Medical
Center and Orthopaedic Hospital, Nethercutt Emergency Center and Saint John's
Health Center Emergency Department also received a coveted Spirit Award.
Celebrities attending included Dr Phil McGraw,(television personality "Dr
Phil"), Kendra Wilkinson (Playboy, "The Girls Next Door"), Rhonda Fleming
(actress), Raven-Symone ("That's So Raven" TV show), Lis Rohm (actress -
"Law and Order"), Judy Tenuta (comedian), Dr. Robert Rey (DR 90210 E-channel TV
series), Jamie King (supermodel), Daisy Fuentes (actress), Matt Leinart (former
USC football champ, Arizona Cardinals quarterback), Lorenzo Neal
(Baltimore Ravens football player), Matt Goss (musician) and Carlos Amezcua (Fox
11 evening news anchor). Corporate sponsors included One
Hope Wine, Fiji Water, Saint Johns Health Center, UCLA/Santa Monica Medical
Center, Skyy Vodka, Nestle Waters, C&H Sugars, Pompeian Olive Oil, POM

The American Red Cross of Santa Monica, is a publicly supported,
501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides health and safety education, youth
services, blood services, CPR and first aid training, disaster awareness and
disaster relief efforts.
